On this page, we celebrate the wonderful historical societies that exist in our region. In these hectic and continually changing times, they remind us of the rich history of the places where we live and work.
Box Hill Historical Society
The Box Hill Historical Society was formed in 1963. Since then, volunteers have worked to collect, preserve and share the unique history of the suburbs of Box Hill, Box Hill North and South, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Burwood and that part of Surrey Hills which was formerly located in the City of Box Hill.
The Society is located at Suite 7, Town Hall Hub, 27 Bank Street, Box Hill, at the rear of Town Hall
Our Local History Room is open every Tuesday, except Public Holidays, from 11am to 4pm. Meetings are usually held from 2pm on the 3rd Sunday in the month, in the Bert Lewis Meeting Room of Box Hill Library, which is just east of the Town Hall, at 1040 Whitehorse Road Box Hill.

Kew Historical Society
Founded in 1958 Kew Historical Society (KHS) is one of the oldest continuing historical societies in Melbourne. The Society works with local government and other organisations within Kew to stimulate interest in our history and heritage.
It publishes, in print and online, information and resources to inform people about Kew’s history, as well as organising events relevant to our heritage. The Society has been affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria since 1959 and works with other historical societies and groups across the City of Boroondara through the Boroondara Historical Societies Association.
We meet 7.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday in the month (June, July August) and 8.00pm in the other months, in the Just Theatre, Kew Court House 188 High Street
