Strzelecki Koala Action Team. Koalathon

Strzelecki Koala Action Team. Koalathon

Sunday 25th October 2026 from 9am to 3pm

Darling Park Basil Reserve Malvern East

Walk, run or bike-a-thon to raise awareness and funds to save the Strzelecki Koala from extinction. This is the second event of its kind. We did it in March 2025. It was fun and very successful.

The course again runs 5km from Darling Park Basil Reserve in Malvern East to Patterson Reserve (off Reserve Road and next to the Hawthorn velodrome) and return.

Complete all or part of the course. We encourage people to start at 9am but you can start later, as long as you finish by 3pm.

Raise additional funds by being sponsored. You can also help by making a donation. All funds will go to the koala effort.

The Strzelecki Koala is the last remaining genetically diverse koala population in the southern parts of Australia. It is estimated that only about 2000 remain and they are key to survival of the species. Yet, they have hardly any protections.
