From time to time, we get requests from our readers to help them in their search for information or to assist them in publicising their personal projects. Maybe it is something like exploring local history or promoting a cause close to their heart. As part of our role to help strengthen our community, we will publish these calls here while not having any relationship to or involvement in the activities we publish.
Listed below are recent requests we have received.
Petition: Extend Healesville Fwy Reserve Path to Dandenong Creek Trail
In the October 2022 edition of Eastsider News, Elaine Hopper wrote about the Healesville Freeway Reserve. She has established a petition on charge.org calling on the State Government to extend the proposed shared path beyond the park boundaries to connect to other trails.
She invites readers to sign the petition here.
Photographs of Forest Hill
We have been approached by one of our readers, Gary who grew up in the Forest Hill neighbourhood. He is searching for old pictures of the Milk Bar and red Telephone Box that were on the corner of Longbrae Avenue and Jolimont Road Forest Hill for the period from around 1975 to 1990.
Do you know the area? Did you also grow up there or have family living in the local area? Do you know somebody who has lived in this area?
We call on you to pull out all those old photograph albums, boxes of slides, newspaper clippings or other papers that could show what the area around this corner looked like in the years between 1975 and 1990. If you can help Gary, please contact us at eastsidernews1@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with him.
