The Faces of Greythorn Statues launch and Mini Autumn Festival

The history of Greythorn comes alive with the installation of six iconic statues which chronicle the development of this unique precinct nestled within North Balwyn.

From the 1900s when the area was a highly productive citrus orchard, to being home to a violet farm, a koala sanctuary and where in the 1950s the highly fashionable women of Greythorn made a name for themselves with their high fashion, couture and coiffures, Greythorn has grown into a thriving shopping and community hub. It has attracted families from all of the world wanting to live in this prized location in Melbourne’s inner eastern leafy suburbs.

The launch of the Faces of Greythorn Statues is planned to be held at Trentwood shops car park picnic area between Centre Way and Trentwood Avenue. (If it is raining, gathering will be on the footpath in front of the Trentwood shops extending from Yours Now Mine Op Shop to Dunyazad Lebanese Restaurant). Thereafter we invite attendees to take a journey of discovery along the Greythorn Central shopping strip and meet the six statues which represent the Faces of Greythorn over the ages. Let each statue introduce themselves to you and give you something to think about of relevance to you and the Greythorn community.

Greythorn Central will be a hive of entertainment for families of all ages on Saturday 21 May when post the launch of the Faces of Greythorn statues a Mini Autumn Festival will include all the fun of the fair for attendees as they take the journey of discovery at Greythorn. Families will be entertained by musicians covering music from all over the globe, face painters and balloon twisting clowns.

So make sure to stop in at Greythorn on Saturday 21 May and you may be one of 200 people who could receive a free coffee voucher from any number of our great cafes at Greythorn. All you have to do is include Greythorn Central as a stop on your way to your nearest electoral polling booth and enjoy our mini Autumn Festival vibe for a couple of hours and enjoy the journey of discovery seeing our new Greythorn visitors – The Faces of Greythorn.
