DESCRIPTION:Strzelecki Koala Action Team. Koalathon\nSunday 25th October 2026 from 9am to 3pm \nDarling Park Basil Reserve Malvern East \n \nWalk\, run or bike-a-thon to raise awareness and funds to save the Strzelecki Koala from extinction. This is the second event of its kind. We did it in March 2025. It was fun and very successful. \nThe course again runs 5km from Darling Park Basil Reserve in Malvern East to Patterson Reserve (off Reserve Road and next to the Hawthorn velodrome) and return. \nComplete all or part of the course. We encourage people to start at 9am but you can start later\, as long as you finish by 3pm. \nRaise additional funds by being sponsored. You can also help by making a donation. All funds will go to the koala effort. \nThe Strzelecki Koala is the last remaining genetically diverse koala population in the southern parts of Australia. It is estimated that only about 2000 remain and they are key to survival of the species.
