Canterbury Guide Hall, 1 Faversham Rd, Canterbury

Three brilliant movies including two inspiring short climate action movies

  • The spectacular Surfrider Foundation movie Southern Blast, which focuses on the appalling damage done to our oceans’ life by seismic blasting in the Otway Basin off the coast of western Victoria, in a search for, would you believe it, yet more gas and now also sites for carbon pollution sea dumping, aka carbon capture and storage. See a trailer here
  • The First Wave, the record of the Newcastle paddle blockade of the world’s biggest coal port last year – with another planned for November! Trailer here
  • Walanbaa Ngiiyani | Stronger Together, new 35 minute documentary following a motley crew of school students, Pacific Climate Warriors and Gomeroi First Nations Custodians as they come together in northwest New South Wales to visit the ancient lands and waters of the Gomeroi people. Together, as they confront the damaging impacts of mega coal mines and gas wells and work to protect lands and lives against the fossil fuel industry, we see that in the fight for climate justice we are walanbaa ngiiyani – stronger together.  Trailer here
